"You have said so" -Jesus

As I read the "good Friday" scriptures this morning and see again the response of Jesus to his accusers as they question his kingship...

"You have said so"... Was his curious, controlled, measured response.

Then I'm reminded of Peter's response when Jesus asked him... "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Messiah." (Mark 8:29 NIV) and another time when many disciples had left him Jesus also asked the twelve if they intended to leave as well and
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God." (John 6:68, 69 NIV)

So today as I contemplate the sacrifice of Jesus I'm compelled to consider again that all important question...

"Who do you say that I am?"
